Our Board recognizes and acknowledges that ESG is fast becoming the lens through which investors, consumers, employees and other stakeholders make decisions about how to spend their money and time. We are also cognizant of the fact that ESG mismanagement can lead to serious financial costs and reputational damage.
The Board has therefore shifted the institution’s focus from maximizing shareholder value to creating value in a manner that delivers long-term sustainability for all stakeholders. In this regard, the Authority views the successful management of ESG factors as an effective means to optimizing risk management and safeguarding the value of underlying assets.
Our ESG Dimension
NSIA adopted a 3-pillar delineation for its ESG covering
We act responsibly towards our environment. We work with our partners, suppliers, and contractors to reduce our direct and indirect environmental footprint and look to establishing stronger emission standards across all our touch points. We are committed to addressing climate change, supporting clean and affordable energy, pollution control and sustainable waste management solutions.
We are transparent about our plans, activities, results, and contributions to society through our investment activities, and engage with shareholders, business partners, government, and peer entities through a variety of platforms. As outlined in our investment policy statements, we will maintain a clear approach on responsible investing and sustainable finance.
Accelerating Project Completion
Consistent with its Infrastructure development mandate, the Authority has been working in partnership with the federal government of Nigeria, many federal entities, and some state governments to facilitate infrastructure development to meet the nation’s economic development and growth objectives. Since it began operations in 2012, NSIA has supported several projects across its focal sectors. These projects are spread across over 20 states and span all 6 geopolitical zones in the country.
NSIA brings a unique execution capacity to the table. Across projects or portfolios, we help in establishing systems that enhance operational efficiency and deliver cost-efficiency structures. Leveraging tools that de-risk project completion challenges, we are able to fast-track project evaluation and selection, plan and structure transactions, attract capital and co-investment partners, and ensure timely deal closure and completion.
NSIA, is a trusted advisor to the Federal Government of Nigeria and has been instrumental to the actualization of a number of national economic transformation initiatives within the remit of its mandate.
